Flinders University Child Care Centre is a not-for-profit, progressive, play based, early learning centre based on the grounds of the Flinders University in Adelaide, South Australia.

Our education and care programs cater for children aged six weeks to six years old in five purpose built houses; Baby House, Toddler House, May Mills House, Preschool House and Sturt House.

Programs are play based, with an emphasis on environmental and relational learning. We also have a central office and a kitchen which provides delicious and nutritious healthy food to all the children. As we are a not-for-profit organisation all income is used to ensure the continued improvement of our education and care programs.

We are a community based service, meaning that all of our families have the opportunity to influence the type, structure and philosophical foundations on which we are based. Families are central to our community. Our educators work to develop and maintain strong, respectful relationships with families and to work in partnership with them to provide programs of excellence.

You may choose to be involved in our programs in a variety of ways, from sharing stories with educators and enjoying documentation, to participating in the Governing Committee. Families are periodically invited into the centre throughout the year to share stories, food and company.

The Centre is managed by a Director and the Governing Committee and we are part of the Flinders University extended community. Parents are encouraged to participate in the management of the centre through joining the Governing Committee or a sub-committee.

The Governing Committee is made up of eight parents, a University representative, the Director and two educators. Elections are held at the Annual General Meeting (held each October) and meetings are held once a month to discuss and make decisions relating to the management of the centre. Responsibilities are shared to enable members to work together in a supportive and productive manner. If you want to see how you could help the centre or to find out more just get in touch.
